5 Dreamforce Tips from Long-Time Attendees

Dreamforce ’17 is right around the corner. By now, you probably have booked your hotel and travel arrangements. With those logistics out of the way, it’s time to consider how you will get the most out of the event. What sessions will you attend? What questions will you seek answers to?

We’ve attended Dreamforce each year since 2014. After flying back from San Francisco, we always have suggestions for the following year. We’d like to share five Dreamforce tips that can help make the event more effective and hassle-free.

Tip 1: Come with a Salesforce Roadmap

A Salesforce Roadmap lays out how your company or department will leverage Salesforce technology. Many of our clients struggle to take advantage of all the features available in Salesforce products. Without a roadmap, they have difficulty increasing user adoption or the return on their Salesforce investment.

Arriving at Dreamforce with a roadmap enables you to prioritize sessions and booths at the Customer Success Expo. Dreamforce is a great place to gather ideas and learn of upcoming new features and products that will build upon your existing roadmap.

Start building the framework for your Roadmap before your trip by identifying key business challenges, process inefficiencies, customer experience improvements and data issues that are preventing you from seeing that ever-critical 360-degree-view of your customer.

Tip 2: Take Advantage of the Dreamforce Events App

The Dreamforce Events App provides session details, personalized recommendations, a personal agenda, updated with session start times, as well as directions for getting to and from meeting rooms around the Moscone Center. You can also reserve seats for sessions and forward session details to friends.

Tip 3: Use Twitter to Stay Informed

Twitter is a great place to find session information, after parties, photos, quotes, and new ideas. Be sure to follow @salesforce@dreamforce and use the hashtags #DF17 and #Dreamforce.

Tip 4: Visit the Customer Success Expo!

The Customer Success Expo is your hub for learning about new Salesforce features, test-driving AppExchange apps at partner booths and listening to stories and words of advice from fellow Salesforce users.

Vendors at the Customer Success Expo paid good money to help sponsor the event. The expo is a one-stop place to gather cards from ISV AppExchange partners, consultants, Salesforce reps and other users who can help with your roadmap. Have a list of vendors you may be interested in beforehand but don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. You can read about some of the expo sponsors here. Make sure you have plenty of business cards!

Tip 5: Be Comfortable

This is not an event for high heels. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a light sweater or jacket. Also, keep your purse and/or laptop bag light. You might be walking quite a bit, and it’s no fun lugging heavy bags around. And, bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated. Water stations are available throughout Moscone Center and other venues.

Dreamforce is filled with surprises. So, come with an open mind. You can only plan out your days so far. We like to leave time each day for the unplanned.
